Fulwood Old Chapel was built in 1728 on a green just outside Fulwood village as a meeting place for those who felt the restrictions and dogma of the Church of England too much but still wanted a place to meet and worship.
It has been enxtended thrugh the ages. The original building was simply a one roomed building but in the mid 1700's a minister's house waqs built on one side and then the schoolroom at the other. Over time a kicten and toilets have been added. The latest alterations were in 2009 and the chapel now boasts a modern kitchen, new toilets, disabled facilities and a baby changing area. Both the chapel and the Schoolroom are now hired out during the week.
The setting makes it ideal for weddings, positioned as it is in the Mayfield Valley, and with the chapel situated directly opposite the entrance to the park of Forge Dam there are plenty of opportunities for photographs. You can even hold small reception parties after the ceremony in our newly furbished function room not forgetting the brand new fully equiped kitchen.
